Have you heard? The 52nd Annual Woollybear Festival is once again preparing to take over the downtown Vermillion area! If you are an Ohio local, you know that this is not only one of the biggest one-day festivals in the state, it is also a celebration of the fuzzy woollybear caterpillar!

Kids Race on the Vermillion High School Track

Kids feeling antsy and energized? Why not check out the “World’s Greatest Kids Race” happening on Sailorway Drive at the Vermillion High School track! This exciting event is fun and free – thank you Vermillion YMCA!

Registration for this event starts at 8 a.m. at the VHS Stadium. There are age-appropriate races for kids from 1-12 years, so even your crawlers and toddlers can participate! The races will take place starting at 9 a.m. and finish up at 11 a.m.

Costumes, Hay Rides and Parades!

Not into the racing event? That’s okay, there is something for everyone. Maybe costume contests, games, crafts, live music and sampling various tasty food items are more your thing. And let’s not forget the parade!

This year’s parade will kick-off at 1:30 p.m., featuring cool, creative floats and marching bands.

In addition to the races, visitors of all ages can enjoy family-friendly games, crafts, contests and educational exhibits. Also, various food vendors will be there for you to try delicious food options from locals.

This event, which began as a small-town celebration in Birmingham, was started by the late Fox 8 Meteorologist Dick Goddard to share his love for folklore.
