Superheroes of all ages will unite on August 24th for the Helping Hands Hero 5K Run/Walk, a charity event benefiting The Cleveland Clinic Children’s Hospital for Rehabilitation’s Helping Hands Initiative.

Hosted at the Cleveland Metroparks Zoo, this family-friendly event invites participants to cosplay as superheroes and run, walk or roll in support of providing essential medical equipment to patients in need. The funds raised will help cover the cost of items such as car seats, electrical lines for ventilators, helmets, and other adaptive equipment not typically covered by insurance.

The event features a Hero 50-yard Dash for kids ages 2-10 and those 2-18 who use assistive devices, as well as a 5K Run/Walk and 1-mile Walk options for all ages. Participants who register by August 5th will be entered to win four tickets to a Cleveland Guardians game, complete with a $40 concessions credit.

In addition to the races, the Helping Hands Hero 5K will offer a “Sponsor a Hero” program, allowing attendees to donate $20 to cover the registration fee for a patient to take part in the Kids Fun Dash or 1-mile walk, or $30 to include a guardian as well.

The Helping Hands Hero 5K Run/Walk kicks off at 8:30 a.m. on August 24th, with race-day registration and packet pickup starting at 7:30 a.m. Participants can register online at RRHERO.givesmart.com or by mail, with prices ranging from $12 for the Hero Dash to $75 for a family of four.
