July 20, 2024, in Downtown Lakewood – The 16th Annual Lakewood Summer Meltdown

The Lakewood Summer Meltdown is back!

Next Saturday, the festival returns to Downtown Lakewood for the 16th time. This is a free event that is expected to draw thousands of people for some fun in the sun.

The Lakewood Summer Meltdown will be taking place between 4 p.m. and 10 p.m. July 20th. The location is on Detroit Avenue in between Arthur Avenue and Marlowe Avenue.

The meltdown offers a wide range of activities for all ages, including:

  • 5K race sponsored by Cleveland Clinic Lakewood Family Health Center
  • 1 Mile Family Fun Run & Walk for all ages, sponsored by Lakewood City Schools Community Recreation & Education Department
  • Street festival featuring live music, games, drinks, food vendors and more
  • Live music from Front Porch Lights (on the Beer Garden Stage) and Jul Big Green (on the Meltdown Stage)
  • The Gary K. Bish Memorial Beer Garden, which includes local craft beers (Immigrant Son Brewery) and canned cocktails
  • “Water Moose” sprinkler park
  • Interactive fitness demonstrations
  • Skateboard park

You can register for the 5K or 1 Mile Family Run in advance. The 5K costs $30 ($35 on the day of the race) and the 1 Mile Family Run costs $15. Participants can register online at runsignup.com/lakewoodsummermeltdown.

Event organizers recommend planning on where you are going to park. You should also bring cash for food vendors and other activities.

It is going to be hot, so make sure to wear comfortable clothes, stay hydrated and bring sunscreen.
